Dow Is Expanding Its Portfolio of DOWLEX Polyethylene Resins at K 2013

The Dow Chemical Company’s Performance Packaging business announced today at the K 2013 fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, it is expanding its portfolio of DOWLEX Polyethylene resins with the addition of the DOWLEX 6001GC grade.

This product complements the recently announced launch of DOWLEX 5057GC sealant, delivering optimal great combination of high brilliance and processability.

These innovative grades are raising the bar for sealants in offering optimal great balance between improved seal performance, higher production efficiency and optics for coextruded films and laminates.

They can offer a broader packaging window thanks to lower seal initiation temperatures and enhanced hot tack and integrates the CRYSTAL technology for low gels that can offer high lamination quality and great shelf appeal.

Very versatile, they can be deployed for a broad range of applications including frozen and dry food, hygiene packs and household films.

DOWLEX 6001GC is the all-rounder sealant, delivering on the promise of remarkable production efficiency with improved mechanics and shelf appeal over typically used resins. "DOWLEX 6001GC makes it possible to achieve higher output than with typically used resins thanks to its improved bubble stability. It also can offer consistently stable Coefficient of Friction (COF), that helps to enable a smooth conversion and packaging process," said Mark Smith, EMEA Marketing Manager Specialty Packaging and Specialty Plastics.

The recently launched DOWLEX 5057GC sealant can offer an exceptional combination of high brilliance and processability. This sealant is very easy to process and can be deployed for both blown and cast extrusion, generating lower pressure for comparable output and thus offering very high production efficiency in complex multi-layer film extruders and also in other pressure limited equipment.

"Dow is committed to continuously developing new products that support our customers' evolving market needs, "commented Isabel Arroyo, Research Scientist, Packaging and Specialty Plastics "These two next generation DOWLEX sealant grades push the boundaries of productivity, offering great versatility for a broad range of packaging applications.

Dow Performance Packaging is one of the world's largest flexible and rigid plastic packaging franchises for the food and beverage market, as well as industrial and consumer packaging sectors.
