Philips has reported third-quarter 2012 comparable sales growth of 5% to EUR6.1 billion (US$7.9 billion).
According to the firm, comparable sales were up 5%, with all three sectors contributing to growth, sales in growth geographies were up 10% on a comparable basis, now representing 36% of total revenue and net income of EUR170 million.
Philips reported strong growth at both Healthcare and Consumer Lifestyle business units. Also, profit margin improved for the firm which was led by the two aforementioned business units.
Lighting comparable sales increased by 4%, with double-digit growth at Lumileds and Automotive and low-single-digit growth at Light Sources & Electronics. LED-based sales grew by 51% and now account for 24% of total Lighting sales, according to the firm.
