Stone Canyon Industries (SCI), through its subsidiary BWAY, has agreed to acquire Mauser Group, a rigid packaging products supplier, from private investment firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) for $2.3bn.
German firm Mauser operates more than 100 manufacturing facilities in across 18 countries in Europe, North America, South America. It employs 4,500 people.
Mauser is engaged in manufacturing and supplying plastic and steel drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs). It also offers reconditioning services for used plastic drums and IBCs.
SCI said its ownership of BWAY and Mauser will create a global major in containers and packaging for the chemical, industrial and food and beverage industries, among others.
BWAY president and CEO Ken Roessler said: “We look forward to working with Peter Schaefer and the Mauser management team in bringing together two great companies in the packaging and container industry.”
Roessler noted that the acquisition expands its product offering while further supporting its position as the premier supplier for rigid general line packaging.

BWAY manufactures rigid plastic packaging including pails, drums, and hybrid paint cans. It also offers rigid metal containers including paint cans, steel pails, aerosol cans, F-style containers, monotop cans, pour top cans, ammunition boxes and an oil can.
In 2016, Mauser Group has acquired UK based company Daniels Healthcare Group to boost its business.
Daniels Healthcare is engaged in manufacturing medical waste containers for hospitals, surgeries, needle exchange schemes, councils and the clinical waste industry.
