4.8% Decrease of Carbon Footprint Has Been Achieved From 2009 to 2011

A new report has revealed that a 4.8% decrease of the Carbon Footprint has been achieved over the past three years from 2009 to 2011, on top of a reduction by 11.7% from 2006 to 2008.

According to the report 'European Database for Corrugated Board Life Cycle Studies' from European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO), the average carbon footprint of corrugated during the last three years, reduced from 784kg/t to 746kg/t.

The decrease is primarily due to a considerable drop in electricity usage, mainly due to the reduction of electricity bought by kraftliner producers.

Corrugated can be 100% recycled and protects goods on entire journey to the consumer, the report noted.
