Octal, a Oman-based supplier of rigid food packaging material, will supply recyclable DPET/PE trays to Saudi Arabian dairy food firm Almarai's poultry product line, Alyoum.
Almarai will replace its traditional polypropylene / polyethylene containers with Octal's high grade trays that are expected to reduce lead time.
Octal Middle East and North Africa business manager Maurice Abou Zeid told albawaba that the region experienced the utilization of inefficient packaging for meat and poultry products.
"Today, OCTAL is leading the global conversion from traditional packaging materials to its cutting edge, environmentally and mechanically advanced products," Zeid added.
Octal's technology is said to consume lower purchased electricity of 65% and on-site thermal power of 28%.
The technology also has a lower cradle-to-gate environmental footprint of 30%.
Octal is also considering to expand its supply of products to other key regional poultry brands.
