Tetra Pak Unveils New Water-Free Lubrication for Packaging Line Conveyor Belts

Tetra Pak has introduced a dry lubrication kit designed for packaging line conveyor belts and distribution equipment.

Designed to save time, reduce costs and improve occupational health and safety, the new solution can help customers cut water and electricity consumption while reducing the man-hours required for machine maintenance.

The new dry lubrication kit, which expands the company’s technical services portfolio, includes the application systems, lubricant and installation.

The kit requires very small quantities of oil and eliminates the use of water unlike wet lubrication which uses tens of thousands of liters of water.

In order to reduce its friction with the package, a drop of food grade oil roughly the size of a pea (80mm3) is directly added to the conveyor belt, the company noted.

Tetra Pak parts, consumables and upgrades director Klara Svedberg said: “We are pleased to offer a much more efficient lubrication solution to our customers, helping them to improve operational performance and reduce costs.

“With an estimated 50% reduction in running costs compared to wet lubrication, the benefits of switching to dry lubrication systems speak for themselves.”

In addition to ensuring precision, the dry lubrication offer improved environmental footprint by saving an average of 35,000 liters of water per filling line each year.

The company said that the kit can be installed in approximately five minutes while ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
