Tecnicarton, Zumex Develop New Packaging for Juicer Crankcases

DS Smith’s business unit Tecnicarton, along with Zumex, has developed a new packaging to improve the transport of parts for juicers.

The solution protects parts and facilitates handling by operators. It has been designed to transport up to 12 crankcases per package.

Zumex is engaged in the designing and manufacturing of advanced solutions for fruit and vegetable squeezing.

Zumex juicers feature a crankcase, which is a metal case that houses the engine's operating mechanism elements.

The pieces with metallic constructions have been moved between plants, resulting in the rubbing or damaging the pain.

The new packaging is provided with a Tecnikit with foam conditioning to protect metallic parts. Placed horizontally between parts, the conditioning will prevent the crankcases from damaging each other.

According to DS Smith, the new packaging moves through a flow between plants, allowing to transport the pieces from their production to their final incorporation in the machine.

The returnable packaging can transport and protect 12 painted pieces with each weighing 25kg. Each container is stackable and can be folded up and save storage space when empty.

DS Smith Tecnicarton marketing director Antonio Cebrián said: "this project is an example of how our company is specialized in offering solutions tailored to the needs of our customers.

“And we believe that we can improve any industrial packaging system, thanks to the number of projects we manage and the accumulated experience that these projects provide.”
