US-based Alpha Packaging has acquired Graham Packaging’s blow molding facility located in Etten-Leur, Netherlands, in a bid to expand its operations in the European market.
Terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
The acquired blow molding plant allows Alpha to expand its solutions for the rigid food packaging applications.
Graham’s facility is the second one for Alpha in Europe, which is situated near to its existing facility in Roosendaal.
According to Alpha, the Etten-Leur facility has secured a grade AA certification for the BRC-IoP global standard for packaging and packaging materials.
Based in St. Louis of Missouri, Alpha now manages 10 manufacturing facilities, including eight in North America.
Alpha president and CEO Jeffrey Kellar said: “The acquisition more than doubles our production capacity on the continent making Alpha one of the largest single stage blow molding operations in Europe.
“The addition of the operation in Etten-Leur significantly expands our capabilities in this geography and supports future European growth.”
Alpha provides blow molding bottles and jars for consumer markets, including the nutrition, pharmaceutical, personal care and niche food and beverage categories.
The company offers packaging solutions to the vitamins, minerals and supplements and personal care markets in Europe.
In addition, Alpha offers automated container decorating services through its Technigraph container decorating division.
Alpha is a subsidiary of middle-market private equity firm Irving Place Capital.
Irving Place Capital senior advisor and Alpha chairman Phil Yates said: “The acquisition of the site in Etten-Leur is consistent with Alpha’s strategy of acquiring successful businesses with complementary customer relationships, product lines, manufacturing technologies and plant locations."
