Everlight Will Obtain 40% of Market Share in Taiwan in 2012

The size of Taiwan's LED light bulb market will reach 1-1.05 million units in 2012, according to estimates by LED firms. But demand has been weak recently despite the LED light bulb subsidy announced by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Taiwan-based LED packaging house Everlight will introduce 10W omni-directional LED light bulb and market observers believe Everlight will obtain 40% of market share in Taiwan in 2012.

Everlight reported third-quarter 2012 revenues of NT$4.469 billion (US$152 million), representing an on-quarter increase of 3.68% and on-year increase of 10.39%. Fourth-quarter performance is likely to be flat. The observers predict the firm's third-quarter consolidated gross margin and net profits are likely to exceed the second quarter.

Everlight recently introduced LED lighting fixtures including the 4- and 6-inch LED recessed lights, ring lights and lightweight steel frame lights.

The firm believes demand for LED light bulbs will begin to heat up again from the end of the fourth quarter to the beginning of Lunar New Year as it is a boom season for home renovation.

To stimulate demand, the price of the 9W LED light bulb from Delta Electronics and Everlight both have decreased to about NT$319-349/unit, lower than Philip's equivalent priced at NT$449/unit.
