American Packaging has broken ground on a new 350,000ft2 manufacturing facility in Monroe County, New York.

The company is investing around $170m to develop the facility, which will allow to create up to 260 permanent jobs, in addition to 100 construction jobs.

The facility, which is being built in the Town of Chili, is expected to commence operations by the end of this year.

American Packaging will retain the 170 employees currently working at the Rochester facility.

The project is said to complement regions’ Finger Lakes Forward revitalization plan, which is designed to grow the economy and create new opportunities.

“This project will not only boost the local manufacturing sector and provide job opportunities to more than 260 residents, it will strengthen the regional economy and support a more sustainable community for generations to come."
