Polythene manufacturer Duo UK has bagged a new contract from environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
Duo will manufacture green sacks used for the charity's 'Big Tidy Up' campaign ensuring they are manufactured from 100% recycled polythene which is collected, reprocessed and manufactured in the UK.
The sacks are made using closed loop recycling which involves collecting used material from customers and combining it with waste polythene that is produced during the manufacturing process.
Keep Britain Tidy chief executive Phil Barton said it is imporatant to provide 100% recycled rubbish bags for everyone who is ready and willing to get involved.
"It was really important to us that the sacks are as environmentally-friendly as possible and the fact Duo is a local supplier with a factory within a 25 mile radius of our HQ reduces our carbon footprint and transport costs even further," Barton said.
The collected waste material will be recycled into pellets which are later on used to manufacture new packaging products.
