Portugal-based PET bottles producer Gepack has announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility in Arizona, US.
In the later part of the year, Gepack USA will construct a 12,000ft2 facility near Phoenix in Peoria of Arizona.
The new Peoria facility will produce bottles and caps for the company's customers.
Gepack general manager Joao Ganhao was quoted by Plastics News as saying that the company manufactures different plastic bottles for global companies.
"We picked this site due to the proximity to California. We have a lot of customers there who are already buying and importing from Portugal so we decided to be closer," Ganhao added.
Arizona is said to be more tax wise for the company to locate its facility. The company also received support from the Phoenix area for the facility set up.
After reviewing various locations in California, Nevada and Arizona, the company has selected the new site in Peoria.
The new facility, which is slated to open in November 2014, is expected to employ around 15 workers.
The company claimed that the opening of the new facility could be the start for it in the country.
Head-quartered in Aveiras de Cima, Gepack provides services to around 400 customers in 29 countries.
The company offers packaging products for different sectors such as food, pharma, beauty and home.
