American Packaging to Build $170m Manufacturing Facility in US

Flexible packaging converter American Packaging (APC) is planning to build a new $170m manufacturing plant in Monroe County, New York, US.

Planned to be built on Beaver Road in the Town of Chili, the facility is scheduled to be commissioned by 2021.

Construction of the facility is planned to commence by early 2017 and is expected to create 104 construction positions.

American Packaging president and CEO Peter Schottland said: "The decision to invest such a significant project scale into New York State was a complex one indeed.

“In the end, three factors led us to this exciting announcement. Firstly, the quality of the work ethic in New York is much like that of the Midwest, full of great people who deeply care about the well-being of their company.

“Our current APC families working in New York are second to none and finally the Cuomo administration fought aggressively to get us to make this investment."

The 350,000ft² facility will be supported by $14.7m grants from New York's chief economic development agency Empire State Development (ESD) and a further $870,000 grant from Rochester Gas and Electric for electric and gas infrastructure of the plant.

New York Senator Joseph Robach said: "From construction and outfitting, to new advanced manufacturing jobs once the project’s complete, this facility will be a game-changer for our region."

APC is engaged in providing flexographic and rotogravure printing, multi-ply extrusion as well as adhesive lamination of film, paper, and foil, and pouch and bag fabrication.
