Rigid packaging specialist Berlin Packaging has acquired Diablo Valley Packaging, a move that bolsters the company's glass packaging supply chain to better serve the food, beverage, and wine & spirits markets.
The deal comes on the heels of Berlin Packaging's acquisition of Vivid Packaging in September this year.
This is in line with the company's strategy to double its revenues and earnings by 2017 through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.
Based in California, Diablo Valley Packaging produces glass bottles and jars, plastic containers, closures and capsules, and corrugated packaging.
Diablo Valley's employees including managers and front-line personnel will be retained by Berlin Packaging, creating an organization with more than 650 employees, $1bn in annual sales.
Berlin Packaging chairman and CEO Andrew Berlin said: "Diablo Valley Packaging and Berlin Packaging have both achieved double-digit growth over the last few years in an industry where low single-digit growth is the norm. As with our company, Diablo's strong performance is a testament to their creative solutions, strong supply chain, and emphasis on exceptional customer service.
"By combining the strengths of both companies, this acquisition helps us meet our high growth goals and solidifies our position as the industry's largest, most comprehensive, and most customer-focused rigid packaging supplier."
With this acquisition, the company's customers will benefit from a broader geographic coverage with more than 100 sales offices and warehouse locations, as well as expanded product offerings.
The acquisition will bring together Diablo's relationships with major glass manufacturers in North America and around the world and Berlin's 35,000 SKUs and supply chain focused on plastic, glass, and metal containers, closures, and dispensing systems.
