Karelia-Upofloor Wants to Reduce Production Significantly in Its Two Parquet Factories

The Finnish flooring manufacturer Karelia-Upofloor wants to reduce production significantly in its two Finnish parquet factories in Kuopio and Tuupaovaara. The Kuopio factory is to be closed down by the end of 2013 and the Tuupaovaara factory will only be continuing production of the Saima product line. All other Karelia parquet flooring is to be produced in other factories of the parent company K?hrs Holding in future. The necessary negotiations with the 116 employees of Karelia-Upofloor who are affected by the divestments have meanwhile been concluded, according to K?hrs Holding. Investigations are currently being conducted as to how many of these employees can work in the continuing Saima production at Tuupaovaara or at other locations of K?hrs Holding. According to Karelia-Upofloor, the almost complete stoppage of parquet production in Finland and the transfer to other locations will not have any effect on deliveries to customers. The parquet range of Karelia-Upofloor also remains unchanged.
