German carmaker Volkswagen is planning to offer the Golf 7's engine lineup to the new 2014 Skoda Octavia generation, in order to keep down the production costs.
The Volkswagen Golf 7 is powered by two turbocharged petrol engines, a 1.2 litre with 85bhp and a 1.4 litre with 138bhp and the diesel engine options will include 1.6 litre 103bhp and 2.0 litre 148 bhp.
In addition to the VW Golf 7's engine lineup, 2014 Skoda Octavia also shares Golf7's MQB platform.
Skoda Octavia is expected to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March or at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and is expected to go on sale in next year.
The company said that the high end version, GTI version will get a 165kW 2-litre TSI engine.
VW said it is also planning to develop hybrid and electric versions of the new Golf, which might also be adopted by the Octavia.
