Packaging Materials Survey Recovery Activities will be Released in 100 US Cities

American Institute for Packaging and the Environment (AMERIPEN) is all set to release the preliminary results of a survey of recovery activities in the 100 largest US cities in a public webinar to be held on 19 December 2012.

Besides presenting the data, the webinar will also describe how the information will be used for the local and state-level partnerships, and to test the hypothesis, where implementation of best practices drives increased material recovery.

AMERIPEN executive director Joan Pierce said the plans and processes of the Recovery Team have enabled a way toward its goals, moving from data collection to analysis and ultimately to action.

"The steps in this important initiative clearly demonstrate AMERIPEN's commitment to on-the-ground optimization of the packaging recovery system, our support for state and local governments, and our commitment to increase recovery rates across the United States," Pierce said.

The survey is a one step forward in a multi-year Recovery Team initiative, which commenced by compiling research and industry knowledge across all phases of the packaging recovery system.

AMERIPEN works to improve and promote the economic, environmental, and social sustainability of packaging through increased material recovery rates, better packaging design and materials selection as well as public awareness.
