Xymogen Recalls Artriphen Products

US-based nutraceutical company Xymogen has announced the recall of artriphen, a product recommended for the support of healthy joint function, as it contains traces of the allergens soy and milk, which were not included in the product's labeling.

Xymogen president and CEO Brian Blackburn said the manufacturer had been fraudulently labeling the product after the company received from them its mandatory allergen checklist, indicating both allergens as present in the formula.

"After questioning them on this discovery, we were able to confirm this was the case and that we had been dealing with a company that was clearly incompetent of segregating allergenic raw materials and communicating their presence in customers' formulas," Blackburn said.

The company discovered that the allergens were not included in the labeling of the product while preparing to buy artriphen in bulk and later on label and package it for the first time at its new 136,000ft2 manufacturing facility and headquarters in Orlando.

According to the US Food and Drug Administration's regulations on dietary manufacturing, packaging and distribution, manufactures are required to disclose any of eight identified allergens in the labeling and marketing of products.
