Munksjo Extended Its Base Papers Range with Two New One-Sided Coated Papers

Finland-based specialty paper producer Munksjo has extended its base papers range with two new one-sided coated papers.

While Metalkote Expert has been produced for returnable beer bottles, Metalkote Classic will be used for one-way beer bottles.

The company has developed these new products at its mill in Stenay, France which specialises in producing one-side paper for wet-glue metallised labels, flexible packaging and facestock applications along with clay-coated paper for release liners.

These base papers have been developed specifically for metallising, specially dedicated to premium wet-glue beer labels.

Metalkote Expert which has been developed specially for returnable beer bottles is an enhanced version of Metalkote Evolution. Its improved paper surface gives an improved varnish consumption and better gloss after metallising.

With the Metalkote Classic, the company has been able to complete its Metalkote range by offering a dedicated solution for single-use bottles. The new paper base ensures high performance during printing and labelling.

Metallizing and facestock Base Papers vice-president Adeline Saillard said: "With the review of our Metalkote range, we offer to metallizers, printers and brewers different paper solutions to meet more precisely the need of each end-use market, whether for returnable or one-way bottles.

"Those product launches are well aligned with our strategy to maintain our leading position as specialty paper producer for the metallized label business. For more than 20 years, we have been supporting the industry and are still committed to continue."

Munksjo employs around 2,900 people and has production facilities in France, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Spain and China.
