Germany's Crude Steel Output Amounted to 3.8 Million Metric Tons, Decreasing 2.2 Percent

In March this year, Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.8 million metric tons, decreasing 2.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). However, the workday-adjusted crude steel production in Germany in March rose one percent compared to March 2012 and was up three percent month on month.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of the current year Germany's crude steel output amounted to 10.8 million mt, down 0.3 percent compared to the same period 2012.

On the other hand, in February Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.1 million metric tons, decreasing 1.5 percent year on year, including 2 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 0.5 percent year on year, and 1.1 million metric tons of long steel products - down 4.9 percent year on year. In the first two months of the year, the country's hot rolled steel output fell by 0.5 percent to 6 million mt, consisting of 4 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 0.7 percent year on year, and 2 million metric tons of long steel products - down 0.1 percent year on year.
