Contract Packaging Company Apak's Expands and Moves to Racine

Illinois-based contract packaging company Apak will be expanding and moving to Racine that will create around 46 new jobs.

The company has also been granted a property tax reimbursement of $85,000 over the next 10 years by the Redevelopment Authority of Racine to help it settle down in Olsen Industrial Park.

Apak recently started renting the building and will be capable of purchasing it for $762,500 depending on financial help from the city.

The company has promised a total of 46 jobs over the next three years in exchange for tax rebates.

Currently, the company employs around 12 people and has promised to give preference to residents of Racine during hiring.

The building Apak has moved into was previously owned by Altus Vinyl.

Founded in 1975 in Illinois, the company does contract packaging for the food Ingredients and manufacturing industry including confectionary, tea bags, dry peppers, seasonings, dry dog treats and institutional powder soap.

According to Journal Times, Apak's client list includes Proctor & Gamble, Walmart, Costco, Walgreens, Target, Trader Joe's and the Dollar Store.

Laura Million of Racine County Economic Development was quoted by the Journal Times as saying that currently the company operates two food packaging lines and has the capacity to further expand by adding more lines.

The authority further stated that the company will begin its expansion project by next year.
