Canadian spot market freight volumes were up 9% year-over-year in September, but down 5% compared to last September.
TransCore Link Logistics reported the third quarter saw a decrease of 5% versus the second quarter, but volumes were up 1% compared to the first quarter and 2% better than Q32012.
July marked the strongest month for freight volumes in the quarter, with May posting the strongest volume year-to-date, according to TransCore.
Equipment postings in September dropped 5% from August, however year-over-year equipment postings were up 15%.
Top equipment volumes in September were: dry van, 52%; reefer, 23%; flatbed, 19%. Intra-Canadian volumes reached their highest levels of the year, contributing 28% of all volumes for September.
