UK-based packaging manufacturer Parkside Flexibles has introduced Parkside spiral wrap, a new flexible sandwich wrap packaging solution.
The new packaging has been designed to allow consumers to peel away the packaging in a spiral motion, revealing the tortilla wrap, roll or sandwich inside.
Developed using specialised film, the new pack is wrapped at a specific angle and then heat-sealed to form the spiral pack opening structure. The pack's design also replaces the need for costly tear strips and closures.
Parkside sales head Paula Birch said: " "As consumers' lives become busier, many people just want to grab lunch and go.
"We want to take advantage of the growing popularity and demand for chilled and prepared convenience foods.
"Our new spiral wrap solution is a simple hassle-free pack and has been designed with convenience front of mind."
The Parkside spiral wrap's design helps reduce bacteria spreading from the consumer's hand to the food.
In order to reduce packaging, Parkside spiral wrap eliminates the use of cardboard inner liner, which is featured in the earlier version of the sandwich packs.
In May, Parkside launched a new flexible self-venting steam bag, Parkscribe Steam, for frozen vegetables.
Claimed to be hassle-free, flexible microwavable pack, the Parkscribe Steam features a special food safe lacquer and a layered registered seal in the pack in order to degrade under heat and pressure to self-vent.
