Innovia Films is all set to install additional biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film capacity and a gas turbine at its UK site with an investment of £20m.
According to Innovia, a division of Innovia Group, the additional film capacity is expected to increase the company's global output by a further 10% and will help it meet the increasing demand for its specialty grades of BOPP film globally.
The investment will also support the company's research and development teams to increase their product as well as market development introductions.
The installation work will begin immediately and the new capacity is planned to be fully commissioned in 2015.
Innovia's investment in a gas turbine at the Wigton site is set to improve the company's UK energy efficiency and performance.
The carbon footprint of all products produced at the Wigton site, including the company's renewable and compostable NatureFlex films, will also be minimized by 20%.
Innovia Group CEO David Beeby said, "This is very exciting news and another step forward in developing our company and supports our ongoing commitment to customer service, innovation and growth."
