Herma, a German manufacturer of adhesive materials, has introduced a new white thermal paper for weight/price labeling of pre-packed foods such as fresh meat, sausage and cheese products.
Claimed to be made of bisphenol A (BPA)-free materials, the new HERMAtherm top M grade 912 paper provides better results when labels are applied to humid surfaces and when exposed to the effects of humidity subsequently.
According to the company, the new paper is advantageous in food labeling applications using thermal labels made from smudge-proof, solvent- and grease-resistant paper.
When compared to the predecessor material HERMAtherm top R (grade 918), the paper is also said to provide better printability with all the classic printing methods, making it suitable for EAN and UPC codes.
The new paper has smooth surface and is less susceptible to scratching that aids barcode reading accuracy. It can be coated with all the company's permanent adhesives to suit the relevant application and requirements.
With HERMAtherm top M paper, print speeds of up to 200mm per second are possible with direct thermal printing.
