Semiconductor packaging solutions provider Kulicke & Soffa (K&S) has opened a new process and applications laboratory at its facility in the City of Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
The 180m2 laboratory and adds to the company’s existing base of global application facilities. The site at the Netherlands has a complete prototype assembly line of K&S Advanced Packaging and Electronics Assembly equipment.
K&S said the new laboratory will help in strengthening collaboration with global customers and industry partners in developing and refining packaging solutions as a response to emerging challenges and opportunities from industries.
It will also act as a platform to help the company in going-forward with its internal development roadmaps and honing its engineering competencies.
Kulicke & Soffa’s global process engineering vice president Bob Chylak said: “This new lab marks another significant milestone for K&S and further enhances our capabilities to deploy the latest technology for component mounting, with a specific focus on applications requiring high-accuracy placement for passive components as well as active bare or packaged die.
“We are excited to further collaborate strategically with customers and industry partners to optimize and drive high-volume adoption of new advanced packaging processes.”
The City of Eindhoven Mayor John Jorritsma was present as the Guest-of-Honour at the inauguration ceremony and he said that the company will contribute significantly in adding value chain by creating new knowledge and employment. And by opening the new lab in the city is a sign that the company believes in the Dutch economy.
Singapore-based Kulicke & Soffa has been offering packaging solutions several decades now. Apart from offering packaging solutions, the company has its presence in semiconductor packaging, electronic assembly solutions.
