Injection molding equipment supplier Husky Injection Molding Systems has announced a phased launch of its PET preform barrier module that has been built on the HyPET HPP5 platform.
With HyPET HPP5 barrier module, packaging manufacturers get the freedom of designing their products as per choice.
The company is now capable of producing multi-layer preforms with a wide range of barrier content, even below 3%, while saving up to 50% on barrier material costs for some applications and increasing system availability that gives maximum flexibility to design both across and within applications.
The amount of barrier content to be used can also be customised.
Husky vice president of Engineering and Business Development Robert Domodossola said: "By providing a highly capable and integrated system with barrier capability, we can offer our customers the flexibility and innovative technology they need to successfully grow their business in existing markets, or explore new market opportunities.
"With our barrier technology, our customers can now consider PET as a viable packaging material for a greater variety of products, and still take advantage of the industry's fastest, most capable and reliable, integrated injection molding solution."
Husky's multi-layer preform technology being built on the HyPET HPP5 platform eliminates the need for special tooling or equipment. The technology can also be applied on the existing lines.
With an integrated solution for PET preforms for the packaging industry, Husky allows customers to consider a more attractive option over alternatives like high-density polyethylene (HDPE), cartons, metal and glass.
