British Rose Veal Has Been Introduced by Tesco

UK-based supermarket chain Tesco has launched Rose veal, which will be available on meat counters in selected UK stores from this week.

The company said that it has collaborated with pig farmer and presenter, Jimmy Doherty, on ideas to re-introduce the meat into British supermarkets.

Tesco will be offering three cuts of Rose veal - a joint, sirloin and rump, which can be cut into steaks, escalopes or roasting joints by Tesco's butchers depending on customers' needs.

This move comes after the launch of Brookfield Farm-branded High Welfare Veal range in Tesco stores earlier this year. According to Tesco, the range proved to be extremely popular with customers and it plans to introduce the products in more stores this year.

Tesco Counter foods director Sean McCurley that Tesco's butchers will be available to assist customers with tips on how to prepare Rose Veal.

If it proves as popular as the branded high welfare veal range, the company will look to extend it further in the New Year, McCurley added.

Tesco noted that Rose veal range is produced on British farms according to the company's own high welfare standards which are independently audited.
