Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus (MFTBC) has unveiled Canter Guts light-duty truck model which will be available at the company's sales centres across Japan from 15 January 2013.
The company said that Canter Guts will add a new range 1.5-tonne payload class to the existing Canter light-duty truck series which will now cover a product range from 1.5-tonne payload class trucks to the fuel-efficient hybrid trucks.
Canter Guts light-duty truck is powered by ZD30DDTi 2.953-litre turbo-diesel engine with intercooler, and adopts a common rail high pressure injection system as well as crude EGR coupled with DPF designed to remove particle matter.
The move follows a partnership between Daimler and Renault-Nissan Alliance formed in April 2010.
In June 2012, MFTBC and Nissan Motor have signed an agreement regarding reciprocal original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supply.
As per the deal, starting January next year, Fuso will supply light-duty truck "Fuso Canter Guts" to the Japanese market, under the Nissan′s model name "Atlas F24".
On the other hand, Nissan will sell the light-duty truck "Fuso Canter" under the new model name "NT450 Atlas"and both the companies will sell about 1,300 units initially.
