Packaging and pressure sensitive materials supplier in the US, Bemis has acquired all of the common stock of Foshan New Changsheng Plastics Films (NCS) in China.
Bemis president and chief executive officer Henry Theisen said the acquisition of the specialty film manufacturer NCS represents an important step in the company's growth strategy by establishing a Bemis film platform for the Asia-Pacific region.
"NCS has strong customer relationships and expertise in specialty film manufacturing for food packaging, personal care packaging, consumer electronics and specialty applications, Theisen added.
The newly expanded manufacturing facilities of NCS will also be able to manufacture film for sensitive medical device and pharmaceutical applications.
Following the acquisition, Bemis will be able to increase its market position in the Asia-Pacific region.
The transaction, for which details were not disclosed, is not expected to impact Bemis' earnings per share guidance for 2013.
