US-based Delta Plastics has purchased California-based Command Packaging, including its plastic film recycling subsidiary Encore Recycling, for undisclosed amount.
Command Packaging is engaged in manufacturing of sustainable plastic carryout bags for the foodservice, grocery, and retail markets.
Encore Recycling is claimed to be the only manufacturer in California of high-quality post-consumer recycled polyethylene film-grade resin.
Command Packaging and Encore Recycling CEO Pete Grande said: “As leading consumer brand initiatives and government regulations such as California’s SB270 bag law requiring post-consumer resin continues to grow, demand for high-quality sustainable plastic packaging is increasing.
“It became obvious we needed a growth partner to accelerate our expansion and meet the growing demands of the markets we serve.
“The ability to manufacture Command’s product line in Delta’s Arkansas and/or Texas facilities will also be a great benefit to our customers in the Midwest and East. Merging the two companies together creates impressive synergies for both companies.”
Command Packaging, however, will continue to operate as an independent business. Delta Plastics plans to integrate Encore Recycling into its recycling business unit.
Delta Plastics CEO Sean Whiteley said that the acquisition is a part of its strategic growth plan.
Whiteley added: “Combining Delta’s 24- years of recycling expertise with California’s only recycler of agricultural plastic film creates North America’s largest supplier of high-quality, film-grade, post-consumer recycled resin.”
Delta Plastics currently operates a plastic blown film and trash bag manufacturing facility in Little Rock. It also operates a agricultural plastic recycling operation in Stuttgart, Arkansas.
