French automaker Peugeot is planning to debut its 208 Type R5 car cat the upcoming Paris motor show in France during late September 2012.
The new car will be powered by a 1.6litre EP6 CDT four-cylinder which generates an output of 280hp at 6,000 rpm and 400Nm of torque at 2,500 rpm.
According to the carmaker, the engine will be mated to a sequential five-speed gearbox and two self-locking differentials which will transfer power to all the wheels of the car.
The company is planning to embark on test programme to check the car's performance on asphalt and on loose surfaces from the end of 2012.
Expected to go on sale in second half of 2013, the new car is designed and assembled in the workshops of Peugeot Sport in Vélizy in France.
