US-based Clearly Clean Products has introduced its new recyclable modified atmosphere package (MAP) tray for meat, poultry, entrées and kebobs.
Simple for the processors to seal and easy for consumers to use, the FDA-compliant tray uses a patented process of applying a peelable, thin liner to an RPET tray and works within existing equipment. The printed liner provides barrier protection to maintain shelf life.
Recently, Weis Markets has implemented the new recyclable tray as part of its sustainability strategy and replaced all of its lid-sealed plastic trays for meat products.
Weis Markets sustainability manager Patti Olenick said the new packaging program underscores its proposal to adopt sustainable practices to reduce its impact on the environment.
"We are continually increasing our conservation efforts, providing recycling opportunities for both our associates and customers, and evaluating our store designs to meet with our standards for environmental leadership and stewardship," Olenick said.
According to the company, the tray is manufactured in the US and comes in various sizes including 10S and 3P.
