Bosch Packaging Technology will launch a flexible ‘Biscuit on Pile’ packaging system in North America at the Pack Expo 2017 to be held in Las Vegas from September 25 to 27, 2017.
Comprising a vibratory infeed, an innovative magazine feeder, a horizontal flow wrapper, and an integrated topload cartoner, the Smart Pile Loader (SPL) facilitates gentle product handling, full control over the product, and continuous flow of products.
The ‘Biscuit on Pile’ SPL enables higher production speeds as it reduces the speed of the pusher at the extraction point and constantly guides the product.
The new packaging system includes Bosch’s new HMI 4.0 (human machine interface) touchscreen, which guides the operator through every step of the production process through structured menus and step-by-step instructions using pictures and videos.
Unlike conventional magazine feeders, the new SPL feeder allows manufacturers to select the desired stack count through the HMI, enabling changes to be made to package configurations. T
he new system can automatically extract a variable number of cookies from each magazine. It also supports automatic lane balancing and builds a complete stack by extracting missing cookies from other lanes. This will allow manufacturers to install fewer lanes.
A new Pack 403 horizontal flow wrapper for the collated stacks consists of sequentially numbered film rollers and controls film tension. This simplifies film threading, reduces jams, and ensures uniform package appearance. Improved seal integrity technology protects the packs of cookies from moisture, increasing shelf life.
The HMI 4.0 and Industry 4.0 solutions result in greater efficiency, higher productivity and better quality, the company said in a release.
The company will integrate the new system for cookie and cracker feeding and packaging with the new Kliklok ITC topload cartoner at Pack Expo 2017.
