Elldex Packaging Is Upgrading and Replacing Manufacturing Facility with a 5,000 M2 Factory

New Zealand-based flexible packaging manufacturer Elldex Packaging is upgrading and replacing its existing manufacturing facility with a new 5,000 m2 factory in Christchurch’s Dakota Park.

The company claims that the factory will be the first purpose-built flexible packaging facility to be built in New Zealand in many years.

Elldex divisional general manager Murray Hine said that the move to upgrade and replace the existing facility was driven by business undergrowth and a commitment to the region and to the Christchurch rebuild.

"The factory will meet the rigorous compliance demands of producing high-quality, food-grade flexible packaging, while the suite of technologically advanced machinery will allow us to deliver the highest quality at competitive prices.

"It also keeps jobs local; we have around 100 skilled and dedicated staff at Elldex and it is important to remain based in Christchurch to retain that expertise," said Hine.

The company is expecting to complete the project by the first half of 2015.

Elldex provides flexible packaging solutions for products from sectors like meat, dairy, seafood, horticulture, agriculture, FMCG and industrial sectors.

Established in 1990, the company also imports approximately 1,000 containers annually of packaging products from Asia to Australia and New Zealand.
