Taiwan-based analog IC design houses have seen a pull-in of short lead-time orders from their notebook clients, estimating that orders for September are about 30% higher than the prior month's levels, according industry sources.
Intel is ready to begin volume shipments of its new Haswell platform products, forcing its downstream PC clients to build up inventories of related parts, explained the sources.
Additionally, considering the impact of the October 1 holiday season in China, PC brands and OEMs are piling up inventories a bit higher than normal safety levels, resulting in an influx of short lead-time orders for IC design houses, said the sources.
