The National Communications Commission (NCC) revealed that more than ten industrial players have applied for 4G licenses. Application deadline will end on July 1, 2013.
Notably, both Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. and Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd. (NYSE: CHT) have applied for two 4G licenses. According to rules and regulations, a single applicant is permitted to be a major shareholder for one license while investing in another company. Clearly, Hon Hai aimed to further expand in the 4G field.
