Polar Beverages, a US-based soft drinks company, has selected Closure Systems International's (CSI) lightweight Omni mini XP 28mm linerless closures for its carbonated beverage lines.
The closures are said to reduce total cost of operations and enhance environmental sustainability, according to CSI.
The new Omni mini XP, which is an ultra lightweight and one-piece 28mm design, is compatible with the 1881 bottle finish and weighs less than 2g.
Said to be made by using recyclable polyethylene resin, CSI's new closure delivers maximum source reduction as well as a reduced carbon footprint.
The design of Omni mini XP is said to reduce misapplied caps and color dimensional variability, accommodates bottling line speed changes and ensures CO2 performance across the widest range of conditions.
Polar Beverages executive vice president and operations manager Chris Crowley said the firm only makes process changes when the quality and integrity of products are enhanced and the customers or the communities directly benefit.
"Converting to CSI's Omni mini XP closures helped achieve all those goals," Crowley added.
The closure has been designed to enhance capping application performance and delivers better capping application performance.
CSI, which is part of the Reynolds Packaging Group and an operating division of Rank Group, designs closures for carbonated soft drinks, bottled water, juices, isotonics, teas, adult beverages, liquid dairy, foods and automotive fluids.
