The Canadian timber group Canfor has set up a joint venture company together with the Chinese company Tangshan Caofeidian Wood Industry. According to a press report issued by Canfor on 26 November, each company is to hold 50% of shares in the new company. The objective of the joint venture is to construct a factory for further processed timber products in the vicinity of the sea port of Caofeidian in Tangshan City. A relevant business plan as well as possibilities for the financing of the project are expected to be worked out within the next months. Lumber for the factory is to be supplied via Canfor.
