The Representative's Office of Taiwan Trade Centre Was Inaugurated

Taipei,Dec.19,2012(CENS)--The representative's office of Taiwan Trade Centre,located in Grand Gateway Shanghai,was inaugurated on December 17,marking the first step for Taiwanese economic and trade organizations to set up offices in mainland China.

In the future,the Shanghai office of Taiwan Trade Centre will assist Taiwanese businesses to tap the mainland Chinese market and help Chinese enterprises,especially those in Shanghai,to attend exhibitions or procure commodities in Taiwan.

In a reciprocal move,China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products(CCCME)is also looking for site for open its Taipei office,probably before the Chinese Lunar New Year,according to Li Rongmin,vice chairman of CCCME and designated director of its Taipei office.

Following the launch of its Shanghai office,Taiwan Trade Centre will also open its Beijing office next Thursday(Dec.27)and will apply to set up offices in Qingdao,Dalian,Guangzhou,and Chengdu,said Wang Chih-kang,chairman of the semi-official Taiwan External Trade Development Council(TAITRA)yesterday(Dec.18).

The use of"Taiwan Trade Centre,"instead of"Taipei Trade Centre"in the past,is regarded as a major breakthrough in cross-Taiwan Strait economic and trade relationship.In the future,TAITRA will embrace the title of"Taiwan Trade Centre"for its activities in the mainland.

Wang Chih-kang expressed yesterday that in the future the Shanghai office will serve as a platform for organizing various forums and exchanges,so as to understand the needs of Taiwanese businesses and Shanghai's business community.
