Glass LLC Coating Lines, EGL and SAG Won Projects Exceeding AED 140 Million

Glass LLC, the first glass holding company in the Middle East and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dubai Investments PJSC [DI], has announced that its coating lines, comprising subsidiaries Emirates Glass LLC [EGL] and Saudi American Glass [SAG], have won projects exceeding AED 140 million in the last quarter of 2013, amidst a sharp surge in construction and infrastructure projects across the GCC, Indian subcontinent and the region.

During the period under review, the new orders include AED 50 million for projects in India, nearly AED 20 million for a railway station project in Saudi Arabia, approximately AED 20 million for projects in Turkey and Lebanon, and about AED 8 million for a Qatar-based project, among others.

The orders are for Glass LLC's self-cleaning VitroGlaze - an eco-friendly glass with a chemically treated surface that keeps away dirt and grime. VitroGlaze is a permanent treatment that prevents adhesion and build-up of contaminates on the glass surface. It eliminates the need for harsh chemical solutions and reducing cleaning time by almost 90 per cent.

Ziad Yazbeck, Senior Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Glass LLC, said: "We are extremely proud of our order book this year, the growth achieved over the years; and the increasing demand for our high-quality, energy-efficient products. The construction market has picked up pace in the region, driving the demand for high quality glass. At Glass LLC, we have an excellent portfolio of ongoing projects, which has cemented our credibility and position as a trusted supplier of glass products for iconic real estate projects in the region."

He added: "Glass LLC provides premium quality glass solutions to the construction, automotive, security and defence industries across domestic and international markets. We are eyeing growth across the region and into newer markets in order to realize our envisioned growth. The demand for VitroGlaze further reinforces the sector's commitment to support eco-friendly construction and sustainable development and green building principles."

The new orders come close on the heels of Glass LLC's launch of its new subsidiary Emirates Insolaire, which launched the first-of-its-kind, energy-generating, coloured solar glass in the world. The new technology is highly sustainable and is a major innovation for potential application in commercial and residential projects across the region.
