AGC Flat Glass to Reduce Employee Wages & Increase Energy Efficiency at Sagunto Plant

AGC Flat Glass Ibérica and labor unions signed an agreement that will reduce employee wages and increase energy efficiency of the Sagunto plant in Spain. The measures are intended to raise "the competitiveness of the Sagunto plant … in a lasting way," according to a Nov. 25 AGC release.

Per the agreement, wages will be reduced by an average of 10 percent for all plant personnel—about 140 people. Additionally, the company will make a substantial investment designed to raise the energy efficiency of the plant, according to the release.

The plant produces float glass, and fabricates mirrors, laminated glass and matt glass. The competitiveness agreement also allows for an extensive repair of the float line at a subsequent stage, "thus securing the future of the plant," according to the release.
