The 117 China Import and Export Fair (referred to as “Canton Fair”) opens in Guangzhou Pazhou Exhibition Center on April, 15. On the evening of April 14, a simple and grand opening reception was held in Canton Fair Westin Hotel. The director of the Canton Fair and Governor of Guangdong Province Zhu Xiaodan and Deputy Director of Canton Fair and Vice Commerce Minister Zhongshan attended and addressed the reception, chaired by Deputy Director and Secretary-General of Canton Fair Li Jinqi. The President of Foreign Trade Federation (FTF) Wang Liaoping was invited to attend the reception.
Zhongshan said in his speech that the Canton fair is an important window for China’s opening-up, serves as an important platform for foreign trade development and has played a key role in promoting China’s trade and economic cooperation with the world over 50 years. At present, the environment of China’s foreign trade and domestic conditions face great changes and foreign trade enter into a new normal. We believe that with joint efforts, we are bound to make the Canton Fair more successful with more achievements so as to contribute more greatly to strengthen the friendly cooperation with countries around the world and to enhance China to become a trade power from a large trade country.
As an agent of exhibitors from Taiwan, the FTF has organized Taiwan exhibitors to exhibit in Canton fair for 17 times in a row since the 101th Canton Fair, with achievements being upgraded each year. With 67 exhibitors from Taiwan registered, this Fair has set up 85 booths, covering hardware and construction materials, electronic instruments and electronic products with a total over 200 exhibitors, ranking the 3rd among import district in terms of exhibition size.
President Wang Liaoping surveyed the Taiwan district at the opening day, talked with exhibitors in details and learned about their business situation, product features, market share and demands. Exhibitors from Taiwan district said the Canton Fair was an international platform and has provided them with easier trade channels and more opportunities to negotiate, cooperate and do business with purchasers around the world.
