There May Be Other Added Benefits to Installing LED Lighting of Which People Are Not Aware

While many people will now be familiar with the words 'energy-efficiency', 'cost-effectiveness' and 'return on investment' being batted back and forth when it comes to discussing the pros and cons of LED lighting, there may be other added benefits to installing them of which people are not aware.

First of all, many individuals will carry out LED retrofit projects - or indeed choose LEDs when building a new property - due to a heightened sense of ecological awareness. These little lights use up less energy - which is better for the environment - and also bring about less CO2 emissions, which is a further help to our planet's wellbeing.

However, they are also beneficial when used as outdoor lighting due to the lack of light pollution they cause. Everybody knows the feeling of looking up into the night sky when in a city and not being able to see a single star. That is due to the vast amounts of light pollution coming from outdated building and street lighting that drowns out any natural astrological beauty.

Light being beamed where it is not needed can also be a problem for ecologically sensitive habitats.

They are also superior to fluorescent and incandescent alternatives from an aesthetic and practical perspective. "Well-designed LED lamps shine light where you want it and not in bedroom windows or other places you don't," David Yang, a commercial lighting account representative for McKaig-Evergreen, told the Columbian.

LEDs, on the other hand, direct their rays to the area where they are needed - and nowhere else - meaning that the same issues with light pollution do not arise on anywhere near the same scale.

Furthermore, due to their advanced technology, these energy-efficient bulbs tend to deal better with outdoor conditions such as dramatic temperature changes and moisture levels. They also contain less mercury than their fluorescent counterparts, which makes their disposal far more ecologically friendly.
