UK - Roker, a seaside resort area in North East England, just installed new energy efficient and dynamic lighting along its famed Marine Walk as part of an ongoing regeneration project by the City of Sunderland.
The project received the 2012 LGN Street Design Awards in the Public Lighting category. The Awards - in its 25th year and sponsored by Local Government Magazine - recognise high quality, best practices, and innovation in public design projects across the UK.
LumenRadio's UK partner LITE Ltd. and Philips, in close cooperation with Balfour Beatty Living Places, designed and commissioned a system to revitalize the Roker Beach area with functional, efficient, and vibrant lighting.
The system is a combination of Philips CosmoPolis pole mounted dimmable DALI fixtures and high-performance Philips Color Kinetics ColorBlast and ColorBurst LED fixtures to generate rich, saturated colours and colour changing effects to help create a safe and exciting experience.
LumenRadio's CRMX technology provided system-wide distribution of DMX control signals that enables the central controller to schedule lighting looks and effects based on an astronomical time clock or to provide manual override for special events and occasions.
"We have used LumenRadio's OEM products in many of our installations, and there is very good reason for that! Not only do we know that the products always work, they also significantly reduce cost and time, as well as increase long-term operational efficiencies, for our clients. We are very pleased with this installation and the result came out beautiful", says Andrew Milestone, architectural sales director at LITE.
