The Sales of Skoda Rise 6% in July 2012

Skoda Auto has reported 6% rise in its sales to 72,600 vehicles for July 2012, compared to 68,500 vehicles it sold during the same period in 2011.

From January through July 2012, the company's sales rose 8.1% to 565,600, compared to 523,200 vehicles for the same period last year.

In Eastern Europe, the company's increased 26.8% to 11,400 units in July while in Russia sales rose 42 % to 8,700 vehicles.

The company's sales increased in 80.6% in Turkey, 43.9% in Australia and 41.9% in Israel.

Skoda board member for sales and marketing Jurgen Stackmann said that the company managed to continue growing and sell more cars in July despite an economic environment that is increasingly very difficult.

"We have improved Skoda's position further in the first seven months of this year," Stackmann said.

"However, development of demand in many European markets worries us. What we now need to do is stay our course."
