Georgia,US:Haverty Furniture announced that its second-quarter sales at stores open for at least a year rose 5.6 percent.This was boosted by an increase in business in the second half of the period.
Same-store sales is a key measure of a retailer's health,because it excludes sales at stores that opened or closed during the year.
The Atlanta-based company said total sales for the quarter rose 5.9 percent to US$151.5 million.
For the first six months of the year,Haverty's same-store sales increased 5.7 percent,while total sales increased six percent to US$315.1 million.
Upholstery continued to be the strongest product category.Bedroom furniture sales also increased,the company said.
