The new Skoda Octavia wagon has been spied testing in both standard and sporty RS forms, as the German-owned Czech brand readies for the cars’ respective Geneva and Frankfurt motor show debuts.
Wrapped in camouflage to look like the old Skoda Ocatvia, the new third-generation RS wagon is highlighted by its more aggressive front bumper, prominent rear spoiler, and dual sports exhausts that mirror those seen on the Octavia RS sedan.
With engine and gearbox combinations likely to match the standard sedan model, the Skoda Octavia wagon range will no doubt include Skoda’s flagship 132kW 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine and both manual and automatic transmissions.
The hotter RS variant is expected to be powered by a 164kW turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine tied to either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission. A diesel-powered RS version is also rumoured to be on the cards to join the line-up. There remain suggestions of a four-wheel-drive version for the new Octavia RS wagon too, but this is yet to be confirmed at this stage.
The new Skoda Octavia range is set to reach Australian showrooms during the second half of this year.
