Arhaus Furniture Will Build a 1 Million-Square-Foot Headquarters and Distribution Center

BOSTON HEIGHTS, Ohio — Top 100 store Arhaus Furniture will build what will ultimately be a 1 million-square-foot headquarters and distribution center in this Cleveland-area city next year, The Plain Dealer reports.

The 46-store company, whose corporate name is Homeworks Inc., also plans to open its 50th store within a year, according to Plain Dealer writer Janet H. Cho.

Officials said they are moving to Boston Heights because the company can't expand any more at its current location nearby in the Village of Walton Hills. The new facility will cost an estimated $43 million and construction is expected to start in late spring or early summer.

For keeping 230 jobs at the facility and adding another 163 by 2019, Arhaus will receive an 85% break on its property tax bill, the newspaper reported. Officials said the incentives were crucial in the choice of location.

John Reed, the company's co-founder and CEO, told the Plain Dealer will have "well over 50 stores" next year, including its first store in Connecticut and stores in the Chicago and Kansas City areas.

Arhaus was among the fastest-growing stores on Furniture/Today's Top 100 this year with 2012 sales estimated at $215 million, a 30.3% increase over 2011.
