Quinn Glass Elton is delighted to announce they have gained an "A" grade from a recent audit carried out on behalf of the BRC against the standard for which specifies the safety, quality and operational criteria required within packaging manufacturing organisations to fulfil obligations with regard to legal compliance and protection of the consumer. The format and content of the "Standard" are designed to allow an assessment of company premises, operational systems and procedures by a competent third party (i.e. SAI Global) against the requirements of the "Standard".
In early December Quinn Glass hosted Mr David Pipe, a consultant working on behalf of SAI Global to carry out the annual British Retail Consortium audit. The purpose of the audit is to ensure Quinn Glass is compliant with the current "Standard", The "Standard" applies to the manufacture of packaging and packaging materials used in food packaging and filling operations, glass being one of these materials.
The principles of the standard are very clear, a business must have a full understanding of the processes and products manufactured and have systems in place to ensure that products are produced within a hygienic environment and consistently meet the quality and product safety expectations of their customers. The "Standard" is based on the following key components, senior management commitment, risk assessment of the product and manufacturing process, and a systematic approach to managing product quality and safety.
Quinn Glass, Elton is delighted with the outcome of the audit and acknowledges the continued hard work that has been carried out across the glass plant by all employees, as the auditor was very complimentary about the high level of hygiene across all areas.
